A massive nor’easter hit the East coast just as Cousin Larry was due to fly up from Chesapeake, canceling his first flight in the process. Fortunately he was able to switch to an earlier flight thru Philly!

So Saturday afternoon we welcomed Cousin Larry to Maine! First we drove the Schoodic Loop and checked out the waves at Schoodic Point. We then celebrated his 80th birthday with a feast at Tracey’s – a Lobsta Dinnah, of course!

Sunday was glorious, slightly cloudy but dry. We decided to try Mount Desert Island Acadia. Our first stop was Hulls visitor center, thank heavens for the handi-wrapper or we’ld never have found a parking spot there!

We saw the cruise ships from the first overlook… We completely understood what we were up against at that point! Even the handi-wrapper couldn’t save us at Thunder Hole. Fortunately Chris score a spot in the right hand lane before Otter Point! The views did not disappoint!

Back home we deployed the cone! Chris has a running joke with Jeff about the MDOT condemning our view-blocker neighbor site (31). Chris had placed a traffic cone there last week, Jeff moved it to beside our steps saying it needed to be more “decorative”.

The Nor’easter gave us a rainy Monday so we turned it into a “Sunday Funday” of wings and football!

At some point during the downpours Jeff slid the cone back into our site…

Our last full day was drizzly & gray so we opted for the George Dorr museum!

Cousin Larry bought me this adorable hermit crab to add to our Maine themed dinette!!!

He’s totally perfect!

Then it was time for Cousin Larry to score some souvenirs! So off to Bar Harbor to brave the cruise ship crowds we went! And no, the drizzle did not dampen our enthusiasm!

One last seafood feast at Tracey’s then home to enjoy adult beverages and a great movie!

Then, sadly, it was time for Larry to fly home. But on the way to the airport we squeezed in one more attraction!

Bangor’s 31-foot fiberglass lumberjack has stood on Main Street since the city’s 1959 sesquicentennial, and it is the single most photographed object in eastern Maine! And with his dark curls and blue blue eyes he reminds me of a young Cousin Larry!
