Vacationland! Monday afternoon we watched two seals cavorting in the harbor!!! Watching them play from our dinette!!! They splashed and did somersaults with their tails in the air! Too cute!!!

I had *just* completed this little 4×4 painting of three seals in the water and mounted it on the side of the cabinet so it’s the first thing you see entering the Maine Mansion. Coincidence? I think not!

Tuesday we took The Bike out for our second four miler! We were stopped about half a mile in by a white tailed deer at the edge of the Winter Harbor path. We had to avert our eyes so he could bound off…

We took a stroll down the steps of the campgrounds Shore Trail and found barnacles, a green crabs top shell, mussell shells and periwinkles. Maybe the tide pools will get more interesting creatures as it warms up?

Tuesday afternoon we relaxed, sitting on the raised deck under the awning enjoying the cool breezes and listening to the raindrops splashing down!

Wednesday we took da boyz walkies on Wonsqueak trail where we saw a rabbit, deer, and wild turkey! Afterwards Chris & I drove over to scope out Birdsacre. It encompasses 200 acres, including an aviary where injured birds are cared for. Those who heal completely are released, those who cannot safely be returned to nature remain at Birdsacre as Avian Ambassadors!

We walked some of the trails & the boardwalk, and explored the Nature Center. Birdsacre was started by Cordelia J Stanwood, an accomplished ornithologist & photographer – also known as Ellsworths own Thoreau! Cordelia’s house is not yet open for the season, but we’ll be back when it is!

Ahhhh, just kicking back and relaxing as a pair of bald eagles soar overhead and the sun sinks…

Thursday we took The Bike out for a hilly 4 1/2 miles, then Rick earned his Bark Ranger badge at Schoodic Acadia! And *bonus* Chris has lost enough weight that he was able to zip up his biking windbreaker jacket!!!!

Friday morning was a brisk 34 degrees, clear and so calm that the water was a mirror!

After a cuppa London Fog (Earl Grey & French Vanilla creamer) we set out to investigate the carriage roads at Acadia with da boyz!

We walked the Witch Hole carriage path, which the pupsters loved! New smells!!! It’s a seriously steep trail, but really lovely!

Witch Hole is an absolutely enchanting lake! I wonder if it is somewhere we can kayak later in the season?

We branched onto Paradise Hill to return back to the visitor center parking lot. On the way we had gorgeous views of the bay!

A nice little walk, just under 2 miles! The pupsters were loving life!

Saturday we tried a new biking route – on the road in Schoodic Acadia. We parked at Frazer point and biked to the visitor center, looped the lot & toured the campground loops, then down to the park entrance and back to Frazer point. Hilly, quiet roads, and fantastic scenery to distract from the burning quads! 5.5 miles!
