Spring Birds: At Acadia Seashore campground we have seen Bald Eagles, Canada Goose, Double- breasted Cormorants & Tree Swallows. (I’ll keep updating this post throughout the season.)

Merlin has identified many more birds by their songs though! Some old friends from home like the Black-capped Chickadee, Dark eyed Junco, Robin, Blue jay, Eastern Bluebird, Northern Mockingbird & Goldfinch but some also that we’ve never heard before! The new birds were Red Crossbill, Black-throated Green Warbler, Black and White Warbler, & Magnolia Warbler!

May 16: We took da boyz walkies on the Frazer Point trail today & Merlin gave us five NEW birds! Obviously todays theme is mellow yellow with Common Yellowthroat, Greater Yellowlegs, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Golden-crowned Kinglet and the exquisite yellow breasted Northern Parula!

May 17: Today we took da boyz walkies in Schoodic Acadias Winter Harbor trail! Much to my delight Merlin picked up four more new birds! Seems like todays theme is Song of the South: Nashville Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler, and our Flagler beach friend the Laughing Gull! Also the Hermit Thrush!

But imagine my surprise when I got ready to close Merlin and scrolled down, discovering two more new birds! The Piping Plover and Blue-headed Vireo!

And at sunset back on our deck we got a Northern Mockingbird!

May 20: I walked over to the campgrounds Shore Trail first thing this morning. It was low tide and gulls were feasting happily!

New birds this morning include Herring Gull, Ring-billed Gull, and Lesser Black-backed Gull. Clearly todays theme is Song of the Sea!

Chris and I wandered over to Birdsacre, the Victorian Homestead of Ellsworthās own Thoreau and pioneering woman scientist, Cordelia J. Stanwood. The museum is not yet open for the summer but the very cool Nature Center & 6 miles of trails are!

As a bonus we scored two more new birds: the Ovenbird and Pine Warbler.

May 23: We took the boys on a 6 1/2 mile hike on the Wonsqueak Harbor trail and heard two new birds – the Winter Wren and Great Horned Owl!

May 26:
Sitting on the deck relaxing after a lovely 6 mile bike ride when our neighborhood bald eagles soared overhead and Merlin picked up two more new birds!

May 28: Acadia Birding Festival!

May 29:
