September?

I can’t believe it’s September already. Only six weeks left in paradise. The nights temps are already back down in the 40s! Since it is September we decided to go back to The Wild Gardens of Acadia to see what was blooming now.

We also swung by Bar Harbor. Wow! What a change! Tons more parking with tons fewer people. It was actually pleasant wandering around. We stopped for ice cream and snagged a new hat for me!

Last week we ordered a tripod for the DwarfMini telescope so we could shoot in EQ (equatorial) mode. That lets us shoot longer exposures as it tracks the earths rotation. The first images last night were brilliant!

Andromeda EQ 90s
Triangulum EQ 90s
Hercules Globular Cluster EQ 90s

These images were all minimally processed but have such glorious detail! I simply cannot wait to see what pops out when we have multiple EQ sessions to megastack!!!

Oh, and I wonder if there’s a GPA group (Granite Polishers Anonymous) out there as my rock cairns keep growing larger and multiplying…. It’s just, I never realized how diversely patterned and beautifully colored granites could be!

Just as I became obsessed with shells at Flagler Beach, it appears I’m obsessed with granites in Maine!
