Buzzing Along

Stopped the the wonderful Crane Trust nature preserve on our way to Buzzed Bee Meadery! Amazing place, my Audubon Merlin app identified 24 different bird species in under five minutes!!! Unbelievable!

We’re planning to come back late March 2023 to see the sand hill cranes migration! They had over 800,000 cranes this year… đź‘€

Buzzed Bee was divine as always. We missed Wayne & Michelle but enjoyed camping in farmland. Made even better with Sweet Heat Jalapeño mead! We picked up seven bottles of mead to set us up til next year! Oh, and Merlin identified 14 bird species here!

Thursday was just driving on down the road, made it to Crawfordsville, Indiana for the night.

Friday we opted for a grand finale! Out in the hinterlands of Ohio we stopped to visit the Serpent Mound!

Serpent Mound is an internationally known National Historic Landmark built by the ancient American Indian cultures of Ohio. It is an effigy mound (a mound in the shape of an animal) representing a snake with a curled tail. Nearby are three burial mounds—two created by the Adena culture (800 B.C.–A.D. 100), and one by the Fort Ancient culture (A.D. 1000–1650). Unfortunately the observation tower is closed for repairs so I snagged an image off the interwebs.

For our final offbeat oddity I chose Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Home of the Mothman! What better way to end our journey?

Tomorrow we’ll arrive back in Batesville. But first I’m going to show off the latest in our camper decor!

And the floofy little doodle of course! He’s the cutest addition by far!
