We started our day with the absolutely sublime scenery at Crater Lake National Park. Simply heavenly!

We were treated to sightings of chipmunk and marmots!

Park rangers clearly have a sense of humor – naming this picnic site!

We have traversed entirely new routes eastward today, thru California!

And from sheer heaven at Crater Lake to the gates of Hell in Cali, where massive wildfires were to our right as we traveled to Nevada! Skies turned orange, flames could be seen in the hillsides & exits were closed by the police. Oh, and to add to the hellish experience, temps hit 106…

On the brighter side – today we added a National Park, a National Wildlife Refuge (Modoc, California) AND a new state (Nevada)!!! So there’s THAT!
