Spring returns, life bursts forth from the earth as the chains of winter are broken!

As we walked the Peace Path in our lower meadow we heard the distinctive “KEE-yer” cries of a pair of red-shouldered hawks on opposite sides of the field. The first was up a red maple by the driveway, we never saw the second.

This is the first time I’ve been able to ID this hawk species. Brings the number of identified bird species on our property to 36!

Goodies arrived in the mail to help me plan our trip to Oregon once we get vaccinated! The plans are really coming together now. By pure serendipity the routes I had chosen ALL happen to be scenic byways!

Another very special treat arrived today as well. A hand turned wooden pen designed to perfectly fit a womans hand, encrusted with eight Swarovski crystals!

Isn’t it exquisite?

It now resides on the mantle as it is my bday present from Chris!
