We’re camping at Pride RV park in Maggie Valley, North Carolina for a week of Plus level square dancing! We dance every morning from 10-12, every afternoon from 2-4, and every night from 7:30-9. That’s a lot of dancing! There are 22 couples and three callers. We generally have five squares up and dancing each tip!

In our downtime I’ve been practicing my Gaeilge. Tá sé ag cur báistí ar maidin. (It is raining this morning) Is maith liom báisteach toisc go bhfuil mo scáth fearthainne gleoite! (I like rain because my umbrella is cute!) Tá láimhseáil ceann lacha ag mo scáth buí buí! (my yellow umbrella has a duck-head handle!)

Is Meiriceánach mé. Tá mé i mo chónaí i Batesville. Tá dhá mhadra agam. Tá mé pósta le Christopher. Is breá liom campáil inár gcampálaí trucail. (I’m American. I live in Batesville. I have two dogs. I am married to Christopher. I love camping in our truck camper.)

Clearly my conversational skills are even less than your average toddler…

However, in todays insane world I need to actively seek out “glimmers” so I’m also looking at seasonal rental locations to park an RV (5/15-10/15!) in Maine! So THAT is truly fun!

Check out site 17c at Gray Homestead! And also – the seasonal cost includes storing the camper (free!) in the off season!

I think I could summer there quite happily!
So, did the square dancing get-together end up being all that you had hoped it would be?
Did you find a place in Maine to summer?
I am very impressed with your Irish language skills! I can’t even imagine trying to learn a language like that. Are you finding it difficult?

The square dance week was a blast! We met a lot of really nice folks and had a ton of laughs! As for Gaeilge, I am finding it easier this time around than when I initially started last year. I had stopped after the election but picked it back up from the start and a lot of things that frustrated me then are making sense now! I keep trying to prod Chris into learning it too, but so far no luck… LOL!
