Winter Dreams of Florida!

We’ve been debating getting a larger RV just so we can park it in Florida for a month or two in the winter, put it in storage the rest of the year. We saw a 5th wheel that was absolutely amazing! I give you the 2025 Sabre 33RLB – Check out the side raised patio!

But then we got to thinking… $65k plus $2k a year in Virginia taxes, insurance (in a hurricane prone area), storage costs, and the cost of having someone move it to/from storage each time we want to use it. Ha! Lots of risks there, plus lots of expenses, and I think we can find better ways to spend $65k!

So I started looking at VRBO’s that take pets, because as you know – our pups go *wherever* we go, or we do not go! Turns out there actually are over a dozen rentals that accept pets in Flagler Beach, Florida. We settled on one that was on the beach (!) next to Gamble Rogers State Recreation Area and Nature preserve. Thought we were all set until the manager messaged me today to say the unit was sold? We had messaged about details yesterday, and today it is suddenly sold? Weird.

However we have now found a simply lovely, cute& funky little place 1/2 a block from the beach in the very heart of Flagler! Las Palmas. I think it will be absolutely delightful!

And it’s MUCH more reasonably priced! Under $5k for a month, we can afford over a decade of these little spots for what the Sabre 33 RLB would have cost! Longer if you add the taxes, storage fees, transport, and insurance! Life is good!

Oh, and I’m back studying Irish! I start each morning with Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, BiteSizeIrish, and Gaeilge Gach La! Then we take the boys for a walk, after which we get on our bikes for a spin session (indoors as it’s too bloody hot outside!)

Oh my! We have found a more perfect version of the Sabre! I’m thrilled to present the Sabre 37RVMiles! It has everything the original Sabre has with the addition of a bonus room & loft storage!

The bonus room has cupboards plus a pull out desk. It also has a 70″ projector tv and a loveseat sofa. One sliding glass door from the raised deck opens into the living room while the second sliding glass door opens to the entrance to the bonus room!

Bonus room and loft

There are some subtle but brilliant changes to the kitchen as well. The pantry is moved to beside the table and chairs, its space now has a coffee bar, shelving and deep drawers recessed into the space under the bath!

That is a huge pantry in the dining nook!

This takes the beauty of the first Sabre to whole new heights! A separate room with loads of storage, and the addition of the loft! Love it!

  1. Congrats on finding such a cute place that meets your needs. Certainly a better deal than the RV for you. Still, I am drooling over that gorgeous RV, especially parked in that gorgeous location!
