Day 1: I was SO surprised to see an ochre star on Rockaway beach! Then a jellybelly, a red crab and finally there was a SEAL playing in the surf near a sand bar!!!

Day 2: We took the pupsters over to a hilltop with benches on the way to the beach. Such a gorgeous view!

Once on the beach we tired them out but good! Chasing each other, splashing thru unexpected puddles in the damp sand! Wonderful day!

This beach has wide expanses of unspoiled sand, plus infinite ocean melting into sky, & minimal people – it truly is just perfect!

We choose a quiet spot where we saw the seal playing in the waves and spread some of Tom & Merrys ashes on the damp sand. Immediately a gentle wave rolled forth and took them home to Mother Ocean!

We walked up to the grasses & scrub that top the dunes overlooking the beach to spread some more ashes – Eeyore can relax there watching Tigger cavorting in the waves!

There were delightful tide pools alongside the jetty teeming with assorted chittering barnicles, mussels, anemonies, starfish, sea snails, tiny red crabs, a fiddler crab, and even a brown pointy nosed crab!

All in all a delightful time! Now we’re back in the camper, freshly showered and I’m relaxing with the pupsters snoring beside me!

Day 3: Just Jonathon Livingston & me on the beach in the early morning! A curious seal kept watch just offshore! It was, sadly, a very bad day for sea nettles. I must’ve seen over 60 stranded on the damp sand as the tides retreated. Some as small as my palm, others larger than dinner plates. Orange jellies with blood red nettles.

They are simply lovely in the ocean. I have no idea why so many were beached today.

The ocean was magical as always! So many seal friends popping up, with flocks of pelicans soaring overhead!

Sadly the fat little puppy had serious tummy problems today. We had to decamp for the closest laundromat to wash sheets, blanket, and bedspread.

Once everything was remade the poor little guy threw up again (and after taking him off the bed he threw up four more times… poor beast) He is now sleeping beside Rex and I on the bed. Hopefully he’ll feel much better in the morning!

The scenery looks beautiful! Sorry to hear about the puppy, though. No fun for either you or him. What’s next?
