Memorial Weekend Memories!

Josh & Mel invited us to join them for Memorial day weekend camping trip in Cape Charles, Virginia! Initially we had One Grandson, Two Couples, and Three Doodles in two campers! Great fun was had chasing Jack through the three separate kiddie pools in the water fun park at the campground!

Fun factoid: This campground, Sun Outdoors, used to be Cherrystone Campground. It’s where Cousin Larry went camping as a kid! He & his brothers used to dig cherrystone clams, catch bluecrabs and fish for their camp meals there!

Our campsites were right next to the pond & no one took the site in front of us! People walked the shore scooping up blue crabs from the lake (?) each morning, then two Canada goose families took to the lake!

Our boys love life in the camper! They prefer early morning walks before the brutal heat. But they adore snuggling & sleeping in!

The new fence yard under the awning is working out beautifully. The boys like us sitting in our chairs inside the fence with them! It’s also great for hanging the water shoes and swimduits to dry – lol!

Cape Charles is an adorable little town with great breakfast places! Jack adopted Beetlejuice – a cute little hermit crab whose shell is adorned with a big bug.

Our camping family expanded on the second day when we were joined by Juliette & little Olivia Rose!

After playing in the pool it was time for fireworks!!! It was a fabulous show! The best we’ve seen in years!

What is it about camping with Josh and high winds? His birthday in two years ago had our campers rocking & rolling in Rodanthe! This year it’s tornado warnings?!?

Sunset from our camper, storm rolling in!

Our state license plate count was 36, a pretty impressive number considering we never left Virginia! Another fun family camping adventure is in the books. Can’t wait for the next one!

Oh, I had the idea to spray clear gloss rustoleum paint on the wreath to make the shells colors pop out like when they are wet… Total success!!!
