New additions to the amaryllis pot. An adorable parrot corkscrew and two tiny dragons! You just never know what’s going to pop up next, do you? 😊

Hordes of ravenous boat tailed grackles stalk the deck at The Funky Pelican. They pounce en masse as soon as patrons push back their chairs to leave the table! We’ve seen some of the bolder birds even stealthily pluck food from plates of distracted diners! Their antics keep us highly amused whenever we visit!

Betty Steflik Nature preserve is just a quiet five minute walk from our cottage. The one & a half mile trail and boardwalks traverse marshland along the intracoastal waterway. It’s a wonderful slice of “old Florida”! And as we walk the boys there every morning and afternoon, we’re getting over five miles walking every day!

So far we have seen ibis, snowy egret, great blue heron, cormorant, osprey, great egret, anhinga, brown pelican, white pelican, and a myriad of gulls!
