Rangeley Lake, Maine

We left Lubec & coastal Maine behind heading for the mountains & lake region. We saw so many signs warning us to watch out for moose crossing the road… As if I wasn’t already eagerly scanning the roadsides, swampy areas, and creeks in search of just such creatures!

No luck spotting moose on the drive across Maine. But we are intrepid moose hunters and don’t give up easily!

We camped at Rangeley Lake state park & got up before dawn to drive Route 16 toward Stratton. This stretch of road is famed as “Moose alley”!

These signs were clearly meant just to taunt me. Chris did see a female moose but we were so hoping for a majestic bull moose. Disappointed we returned to the campground where, much to the joy of Rex & Rick, we climbed back in bed! We drove over to Rangeley after we woke up & showered. Beautiful area!

We decided to take it easy in the campground the rest of the day – which turned out to be a awesome decision as a massive thunderstorm rolled in! So irish lessons for me, electron slaughtering for Chris, and snuggles for Rex & Rick!

Now THIS is what we hoped to see in person! Thanks to the internet we get to see some great photos at least!

But we did put down our deposit to hold 2026 37RVMiles this afternoon, after securing a service (licensed & insured) to move it for us!
