Lubec, Maine

Today we visited the eastern most point in the United States – the West Quoddy Lighthouse! We’re so close to Canada that our phones thought we’d crossed the border!

But back to the West Quoddy Lighthouse – this peppermint striped beauty is our 21st light this trip!

We arrived during a break in the rain and fortunately the dry patch continued until after we hiked the coastal trail!

The tides rise and fall a full sixteen feet here! On the way back to the lighthouse Chris spotted this oddly shaped tree.

The obligatory shot of the granite marker:

We also captured the Lubec Channel light (number 22!). However the lighthouse museum & giftshop was moved to downtown Lubec due to mold so off to Lubec we went in search of stamps!

After strolling thru the adorably eclectic downtown we popped in to Lubec Brewing for a beer. I had their new IPA which was temporarily named “Dank”. An absolutely horrid name for a lovely beer! Fortunately Gale (the brewmaster) arrived with a new name – Pinecone Hop! Much better!

This brewery would totally be my second home if we lived in Lubec, so cool, so homey, and great beer as well! We added a sticker for their Quoddy Head Red to the Mermaids Retreat in the camper!

We chatted with Timm, a young German brewmaster who works over at Mother Mushroom brewery on Campobello island. We have a tour set for tomorrow and will hopefully get to stop by Mother Mushroom! Their artwork is too fun, and their beers sound interesting. Timm says they brewed a beer with *basil* this summer which was exceptional!

Canadian lighthouse (Mulholland) across the water!

Sunset Point campground is the easternmost campground in the states, and sunset across the bay from our camper does NOT disappoint!
