Twas a gray drizzly day, with a fog laying upon the ocean. In other words – evocatively brilliant for lighthouse tours! First up was Pemaquid Point, a humble little light with waves crashing upon its rocky shoals!

The little brick house attached to Pemaquids Bell Tower (for foggy days like today!) was completely destroyed by a Nor’easter last January. It has been completely restored & reopened in June!

Next up was its famous sibling: Marshall Point Lighthouse, which was featured in the movie “Forrest Gump”!

Marshall was also heavily damaged by the January Nor’easter. Its iconic pier/walkway to the light was ripped out. It too has been restored this summer!

Sadly the only good thing I can say about tonights campground is at least it’s only one night… Was *advertised* as ocean front camping with deluxe sites. Ha! Packed in like sardines with the only water view being the rain. But they had a cute wooden fisherman on the porch, so that’s nice!

And we’ve captured 14 lighthouses so far!!! As Mainers say “that’s wicked good!!!”
Since the current lighthouse hat is full of patches already I *needed* to buy an appropriate new hat preparation for our next patch! The lighthouse foundation awards a new patch for each lighthouse passport filled. It takes 60 stamps to fill a passport and we already have 42 stamps in the second book! So…
