Doomscrolling Detox

I’m beginning to wonder if the internet was not the key to the destruction of decency & community. Not in & of itself, but in how it was (and IS) used to spread conspiracy theories, lies, and division. In siloing people into echo chambers. We have no shared truth anymore.

The 24/7 “news” is addictive, doom scrolling becomes a habit but does that time online benefit us in any way? I believe we were better off when news shows were only at 6 & 10pm.

is actually Anti-Social…

Back then we had a shared truth. Major media was widely perceived to be honest and mostly unbiased. Everyone believed that the news provided basic facts. Now faith in the main stream media has been grossly undermined, if not destroyed, by the likes of Bezos & Musk with their online algorithms. Before them it was Murdoch stirring the pot. They all foment dissension & division to keep people at each others throats. Red vs Blue. White vs People of Color. Divide and conquer.

We have people who are all alone even when they are with others because they are addicted to their phones, always incessantly checking to make sure they haven’t missed anything.

What they are missing is actually *living* their life. As am I.

I will take my life back. Reading books instead of doomscrolling. Also painting, drawing. I think it’s time to get back to learning to play my harp and restart the Irish lessons I stopped in my depression over Amerikkka’s descent.
