Journeys

We had a great couple days with Greg & Nancy who are camping nearby at Waynesboro’s North 340. First on the hit parade was Grand Caverns, a truly fun local cave! We followed up with a delish meal at Mi Rancho Mexican restaurant!

Greg is crazy about all the redbuds & dogwood in bloom. So I told them that if you look at the redbud flowers up close they look like little pink hummingbirds. They seemed more than a tad skeptical so I went online and found them a photo!

A couple days later we met at TJ’s place where we toured the house & gardens before having a lovely conversation with The Man himself!

After a bite to eat we drove a couple miles over to tour James Monroe’s Highland. I have always loved the more intimate scale of Highland but,oh my, how much it has changed since our last visit (pre-pandemic). Back then it had walls open exposing the slats under the plaster that held the horsehair insulation in place… Now immaculately finished rooms exist with wild reproduction wallpaper!

After Highland we popped into Jefferson Vineyards for a wine tasting, or three! We had the whites, the reds, and the mixed shared between us!

It was another lovely day shared with fun folks! Tomorrow they journey onward to another campground and I start my bionic eyes journey – cataract surgery. This weekend our great room starts its own journey as the oak floors get sanded, stained mocha, and polyed!
