Deferred Maintenance Part Two!

Juan, Rosie, & Miguel are here to redo our treacherous slate walkway, fix the hall closet door (which fell off last winter) and restain the new deck! Yay!

Rosie stained the wood around our slate steps to match the deck and trim. Once the sidewalk wood dries she will stain it as well! Next up on the deferred maintenance parade – sanding, staining, and putting a poly finish on the great room floor!

Spring is bursting out all over! The wild cherries, pie cherries, apples, & fruit cocktail tree are all in bloom! As are spicebush, forsythia, daffodils, and vinca! The red maples are heavy with their double samara winged seeds, and the redbuds are starting as well!

I decided to re-string the tubular windchimes Mumsy gave us as a house warming gift 21 years ago! The wooden top & clanger had long since rotted away and the chimes had collapsed into the garden. I needed to re-string them, find a new top to hang them from, and locate a new clanger…

I took one of the two small wire baskets mom used for cocktail napkins on the bar during the holidays. Perfect size! Spray painted it Maui blue then decorated it with seashells!

As a finishing touch I gave the chimes a conch shell for the clanger! All in all I think it looks pretty awesome, and it sounds wonderful!

And we ordered Christophers Oru Beach Kayak! It should be here early next week! We are really super excited about these foldable kayaks! This summers camping trips are going to be epic – with Chris retired we can take our time snd play! With da boyz, the bike, and our kayaks all in the camper!
