A note regarding the bench we commissioned for Machicomoco. Aldo Leopold, one of America’s foremost conservationists & the finest nature writer since Thoreau, designed this style of bench. A couple can sit facing forward to enjoy the vista. Birdwatchers can sit facing backwards – to stabilize their binoculars by resting their elbows on the seatback.

Aldo Leopold also wrote one of my favorite books “A Sand County Almanac”.
